Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Pettifer Works handles personal data when you use https://pettiferworks.com, contact us, purchase a domain, or interact with our social media. Last updated: 18 June 2026.

1. Who we are

Pettifer Works (https://pettiferworks.com) is a UK-based web design and development studio. We are the data controller for personal information collected through this website, unless stated otherwise.

Contact: hello@pettiferworks.com

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use our site, we may collect:

  • Contact and quote forms — name, email address, phone number, subject, message content, and any project details you choose to share.
  • Domain registration — domain name searched or purchased; registrant details required by domain registries (name, address, email, phone, and organisation if provided); payment references from Stripe; order status and registration records stored in our database.
  • Website usage — if analytics are enabled, aggregated usage data via Google Analytics (pages visited, device/browser type, approximate location, referral source). We may also process standard server and security logs (IP address, user agent, timestamps).
  • Free site audit tool — if you submit a URL for analysis, we process that URL and related technical results returned by third-party performance APIs. We do not need your name or email for this feature unless you contact us separately.
  • Social media interactions — if you comment, message, or otherwise engage with Pettifer Works on Facebook or Instagram, Meta may share information with us according to your Meta settings and their policies. We do not receive your Facebook or Instagram login credentials through this website.

3. How we use your information

We use personal data to:

  • Respond to enquiries and provide quotes or support
  • Register and manage domain names you purchase through us
  • Process payments and fulfil orders (via Stripe)
  • Send transactional emails about orders or service delivery
  • Improve website performance, security, and user experience
  • Publish marketing content to our own Facebook Page and Instagram Business account (see Social media section below)
  • Meet legal, tax, and regulatory obligations

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your contact form details for unrelated third-party marketing.

5. Third parties we share data with

We use trusted service providers who process data on our behalf. They only receive what is needed for their service:

  • Stripe — payment processing for domain purchases. See Stripe's privacy policy.
  • Namecheap — domain availability checks and registration with global domain registries. Registrant data is submitted as required by ICANN/registry rules.
  • Neon — secure database hosting for domain order records.
  • Email delivery (SMTP) — to send replies, order confirmations, and service notifications.
  • Google — optional Analytics, Search Console verification, PageSpeed Insights API for audits, and site hosting/infrastructure where applicable. See Google's privacy policy.
  • Meta (Facebook & Instagram) — see the Social media section below.

Some providers may process data outside the UK. Where this occurs, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as UK adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses.

6. Social media & Meta platforms

Pettifer Works maintains a public presence on Facebook and Instagram. This section describes our use of Meta technologies, as required for Meta developer platform compliance.

Automated posting to our accounts

We use the Meta Graph API to publish scheduled posts to our own Facebook Page and linked Instagram Business account. This process uses server-side access tokens stored securely in our hosting environment. We do not use the Meta API to access private data from website visitors who browse https://pettiferworks.com.

What we do not collect via Meta on this website

This website does not offer “Log in with Facebook” or “Log in with Instagram.” We do not request your social media passwords. We do not download your friends list, private messages, or personal profile data through this site.

When you interact with us on social media

If you follow, comment on, message, or otherwise engage with Pettifer Works on Facebook or Instagram, Meta may make certain information available to us (for example, your public profile name, comment content, or message content). That processing is governed by Meta's policies as well as this policy. We use such information only to respond, moderate, or improve our communications.

Deleting social data

To request deletion of personal data we hold from social media interactions, email hello@pettiferworks.com with the subject “Social data deletion request” and include the platform, your username, and a description of the interaction. We will respond within 30 days. You can also adjust your privacy settings on Meta platforms directly.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking all cookies may affect some site features.

8. How long we keep data

  • Domain orders — for the life of the registration and as required for accounting, chargebacks, and legal obligations (often up to 6 years for financial records).
  • Server logs — usually up to 90 days, unless needed for security investigations.
  • Analytics — per Google's configured retention settings when enabled.
